In 1840 two suspension bridges were built at Mornay separated by a small island.
The larger of the two bridges having three suspended spans.
The 1840 suspension bridges were replaced in 1936. This bridge spanned the larger channel. The other suspension bridge was replaced with a non-suspension bridge.
The new bridge towers were constructed around the old towers.
