This popular postcard has always confused me as it usually identifies the location as American River and mentions nearby Coloma. The history of California's American River suspension bridges is already confusing. This is not the Auburn-Coloma suspension bridge. This does appear to be the Rattlesnake Bar suspension bridge which collapsed in 1954 under the weight of a very overweight truck.
