These older cards show the bridge when tourists could still drive their cars across the bridge. That is no longer allowed. The bridge was built purely as a tourist attraction so the trip across has always been for sightseeing purposes only.
The older anchorages are visible here. These were repaced in 1983 but are still partially preserved.
