The two suspension bridges at this location were separated by a short distance across an island.
The bridge on the left bank of the Vienne, looking from the island to Saint Maurice.
The bridge on the right bank of the Vienne, looking from the island to Saint-Gilles.
The suspension bridge and replacement on the right bank of the Vienne, looking towards the island and Saint Maurice with the left bank bridges barely visible in the distance.
The replacement bridge on the left bank was completed in 1925 and largely destroyed by German troops, August 31, 1944. This image appears to show later repairs made by combining a new (or relocated) central truss span with the intact side span from the 1925 bridge.
