Damaged and repaired multiple times, the Sully-sur-Loire bridge finally collapsed in 1985 and was replaced with a non-suspension bridge.
The first Sully-sur-Loire suspension bridge. It was destroyed by a flood in 1856.
A new suspension bridge was completed in 1859.
The bridge is intentionally damaged by French engineers to slow advancing troops, June 18, 1940.
The bridge is repaired in 1943, bombed in 1944, and repaired again in 1947.
