Wes believes these are remnants of a suspension bridge across the Cimarron River at Ripley and the Lally column structures here were used for several other 1920s suspension bridges in Texas and Oklahoma. This bridge was likely a replacement for the 1908 Ripley suspension bridge wrecked in 1912. Wes found a date "4-24-29" carved into one of these structures.
