Patrick notes "a similarity of the suspender rod connection to the main cable between this bridge and the Old Hill Place Bridge." Donald Jackson's Great American Bridges And Dams mentions that portions of both bridges were based on 1903 patents by Fayette-based engineering firm Schuster & Jacob. Patrick also notes the condition of the wire strands in this photo. Several broken wires are visible.
