This bridge was in bad shape during this 2002 visit. The deck was slightly tilted to one side and several suspenders wobbled freely as if under little or no tension. The extra cables coming out of the towers did not appear to add any support, but perhaps were added to reduce swaying. In 2006, after a major local fundraising effort, the bridge was substantially refurbished.
This interesting rail truss is visible from the Swinging Bridge. It has a one-lane roadway suspended beneath the rail tracks.
