I did not expect to find this Prince William County bridge still standing. I first found it at the Fairfax County Public Library, in a ratty copy of an early-1970's comprehensive survey titled "Metal Truss Bridges In Virginia 1865-1932". At the time of the survey, the bridge was still in use on Prince William County route 611 (Fleetwood Drive., a few miles south of Aden). I had been down that road before and swore the truss bridge was no longer there. I just hadn't been looking hard enough. The current 611 bridge, across Cedar Run, bypasses this small pony pratt truss by a few hundred yards. It is impossible to see this bridge from the current bridge, and almost impossible to see it from the road. The first picture shows a little more of the bridge than you'd see if you turned your head at the right time, driving along the current 611, to look up a dead-end dirt road. You can just see a tiny bit of one endpost peeking out from the bushes.
A few more photos taken February 2004. With all the foliage gone, I was able to get a shot of the whole bridge from the side.
