This is a list of the only bridge from the suspension bridge inventory crossing Cimarron River. Please note that different rivers with the same name will be grouped together. For example, selecting 'Bear Creek' shows bridges across several different Bear Creeks. Also, similarly named rivers are grouped separately. For example, 'River Dee' (UK) bridges are grouped separately from 'Dee River' (Australia) bridges. Wherever you see a "Bridgemeister ID" number you can click it to isolate the bridge on its own page. |1908 (suspension bridge)|
|Ripley, Oklahoma, USA (Cimarron River)|
|Main cables:||Wire (steel)|
- The first photo seen here is dated March 2, 1909. With a magnifying glass, I can make out part of the builders plate in the foreground. The first line appears to be: "Wfd Mch & Fo... Co." (the portion between the Fo and Co is obscured) for Weatherford Machine and Foundry Company. The next two lines are clear: "BUILDERS 1908" and "WEATHERFORD TEXAS". The last line is largely obscurred but it appears to say "MITCHELL & PIGG PAT'D 1..." with a year at the end. Mitchell & Pigg was a well-known builder of suspension bridges in Texas. I have given this bridge a completion year of 1908 based on the sign, but I have seen other references to 1909 as the year of completion.
- Similar to 1924 (suspension bridge) - Nocona vicinity, Texas and Jefferson County, Oklahoma, USA. In reference AUB, a picture of the Nocona bridge shows the same white-capped tubular towers. There are obvious differences, however, in the tower cross-bracing.
