Translated from this page: "'Baron' is the old Japanese name of Baling, which is translated into Chinese as 'Balong' or 'Balong', and means "giant tree" in Atayal language. The Balang Iron Wire Bridge was built in October 1914 and was a suspension bridge on the Jiaobanshan Sanxing Guard Road during the Japanese era. In 1966, due to the construction of the Northern Cross-Island Highway, the original iron wire bridge was demolished and rebuilt into the 'Baling Bridge'.
